In a series of Elite London team interviews that aim to embrace the real unsung heroes of the modelling industry, we present you our latest Elite hero whose name will definitely have your tongue twisted in a few knots, alright! When not too busy polishing his blinging smile, Joshua Rastofsky L'Oste Challans heads up the Elite London's production & events department, co-produces the infamous Elite Model Look and is notorious for making the impossible possible - with an occasional flick of his magic wand, that is!
My job title is... Production and Events Manager
And that basically means... Producing any thing that carries the Elite brand, Marketing, merchandise, shoots, and mostly I co-produce the EML
I studied... I studied as a sound engineer in Cambridge after school, after doing this I decided to, like most 18 year olds, to go traveling around the world. On my return I was offered a position at the Cambridge Corn exchange a multi function 2000 capacity music and theatre venue.
I got to where I am now by... After nearly a decade in the rock and roll industry, I moved into the corporate events sector, producing conferences, art exhibitions, festivals and concerts. I was called in to assist with the technical side of the production of the EML 2011 later that year I was called by Michelangelo and offered the position at Elite London.
When I was growing I wanted to be ... I always wanted to be a cameraman, I was fortunate enough to have a lot of exposure to my dream as a child with friends of my family working in events and TV production.
My typical working day consists of... At present the main focus of my position is the pre-production of Elite’s presence at the clothes show live 2012, along side of this all aspects of de-briefing, accountancy and post event production for the Elite Model Look 2012 competition.
The best perk of my job is... Producing events has always been a big joy for me, I love being behind the scenes and making things work. In my position I am fortunate enough to have the responsibility and free reign, working along side my co-producer to create the internationally acclaimed model competition... Obviously all of the parties are pretty good too!
The highlight / proudest moment of my career was... As this is still my first year at elite, obviously my proudest moment is to have successfully completed the EML 2012 and to have produced a great pair of EML winners and to have been part of turning 20 something girls and boys into aspiring models.
I couldn't do my job without... A Budget, and the team around me…
I love working with models because... They look good in photos..
The model I’ll be watching in 2013 has to be... Sandra, 23 from Essex
When I’m not busy working, I like to... I love eating, dining out is always the first option.. although having just received my first daughter.. she takes up a lot of my time…
I am at my happiest wearing... I love suits and blazers, not to look like a banker, I just feel most comfortable in a clean crisp shirt and jacket.
The most treasured piece in my wardrobe is... My old Ted Baker teddy boy jacket, it was on sale for £600 and I got it down to £90
My autobiography would be called... The life and soul of a master.
Currently I am obsessed with... Polenta Chips
If there was a soundtrack to my life, it would be... It would have to include some Mars Volta, Jeff Buckley, Pink Floyd, most tracks composed by John Williams or Craig Armstrong and perhaps some shitty dubstep to make me look young.
My hottest hang-outs in London are... I’m a sucka for Soho and Shoreditch House, Love the 50’s feel of the Kick Bar on Shoreditch High Street and love a Sunday roast at the Empress just off Victoria park. I much prefer the east if I'm honest with you..
My guilty pleasure is... Pinot Noir or a good Bottle of Malbec and a melted camembert
I can’t live without... My Music, My iPhone and My Headphones… and My Daughter.
As a special treat, I love to... French Onion soup, Palm Court Covent Garden… literally the BEST! But very fatty!
The most valuable lesson that my job has taught me is... To listen and to learn, think before I open my mouth..
My biggest challenge for 2013 is... Finding the talent
In ten years time I see myself... Trying to support ponies and the latest trend for my kids..
