Mariah Morisson
18 year’s old and living in New York; Mariah Morisson has landed in London. Recently being casted for Pringle of Scotland and Osman, Mariah has made an impact upon the Elite London family and proved why she deserves her place on the catwalk at London Fashion Week.
One of the main focal points at London Fashion Week amongst the catwalk is the model chosen to highlight the clothes designed. For Mariah, her ambition is to conquer every fashion week and to pursue this she has now moved into her own apartment and models full-time. “I want more shows!” she states, “I want to do as many shows as possible.”
Fusing French chic and British cool, French fashion designer Nicole Farih chose Mariah to showcase her all day presentation of her clothing due to her model height of 5”9 and her striking natural beauty. Alongside this, Mariah also displays a genuine and polite personality towards the casting panel.
“I put my heels on and take a deep breath before I go to a casting. I tell myself that they need me, a smile goes a long way too.”
During time in between castings calls, Mariah has managed to view the sights of London for the first time. “The streets are so pretty” she exclaims, “everything here is so beautiful”. In comparison to New York fashion week, Mariah stated that getting to places in London fashion week is a lot more tough, whereas us Brits would probably think the opposite!
“I love London. The people are amazing, the city is beautiful but it’s crazy getting around! It’s so different to New York, it seems prettier and the streets are nicer. Even the bridges are beautiful and some of them remind me of Brooklyn.”
And I’m sure we all agree about the people being amazing!
Aside from modelling as a ‘new face’ for Elite London, being fitted for fashion week brands and running to casting calls, Mariah took the time to tell us about what she is particularly looking forward to during the week.
“I can’t wait to see all the outfits for the shows I get to be in. It’s so good to meet new people too and getting lost in London is a task but it can be pretty fun at times! I hope I get to be in more shows so I can be in London longer.”
Shows can be a stressful time for models and their agency so keeping essentials to hand is necessary. Models must stay hydrated and skin and hair must be kept to perfection throughout the week especially before a big show. Like Zoe, Mariah told us her list of essentials which help her to prepare for castings and shows.
“My essentials are my heels, my portfolio, gum, almonds and water.”
Why?
As a rising star and now officially part of Elite, Mariah Morisson is already catching the casting panel’s eye and causing hype on the catwalk. 2014 could be Mariah’s London year in the making.
